Queen’s Coupe Cocktail
Ingredients
• 1 oz gin (London dry works beautifully)
• ½ oz fry Vermouth
• ½ oz fresh lemon juice
• ¼ oz simple syrup (adjust to taste)
• 2–3 dashes orange bitters
• Chilled Champagne or dry sparkling wine (to top)
A few notes on making this:
- We recently tried this lovely cocktail in London while having tea. It’s light, refreshing, and so festive
- There are a few different variations of this cocktail floating around, but this is my favorite.
- Make your own simple syrup—it’s easy and so much better than the bottled stuff—Heat one cup of water with one cup of sugar until dissolved. Chill.
Instructions
- Chill a coupe glass thoroughly.
- In a shaker filled with ice, combine:
• Gin
• Vermouth
• Lemon juice
• Simple syrup
• Orange bitters
- Shake briefly (about 8–10 seconds — you want it cold, not diluted).
- Double strain into the chilled coupe.
- Top gently with Champagne.
- Garnish with a lemon twist (express the oils over the glass, then discard or rest on the rim).
